List of Top 10 Most Populated Churches in Nigeria

Did you know some churches in Nigeria have hundreds of  thousand members recorded for just a church service? What I mean is this many churches in Nigeria have thousands of members that that their services always. There has been some arguement about the church that is most populated in Nigeria.


In this post, we will be discussing the list of top 10 most populated churches in Nigeria and the biggest church in Nigeria. Gone are the days where most of these churches recorded few members attending their services.

Over the years, the members have continued to grow immensely, this paved way and resulted in opening of different branches in different locations. just as the population of these churches increase, the money generated from these churches also increases.

Gone are the days where the size of a church actually determine the population of the congregations in that church. there are some churches that are so wealthy, because of that they will build a very big auditorium. That does not necessarily determine the population. Because most of the are just coming up and trying to make available space within the church to accommodate potential and future members.

Today's topic will be focusing on the the 10 most populous church in Nigeria starting from the lowest to the highest. This is based on the investigation we carried out.

10. Fountain of Life church

This is the church occupying the 10th position in the list of top 10 most populated churches in Nigeria. This   church was founded by Bimbo Odukoya, though she is dead.

9. Synagogue Church of All Nation (SCOAN)

It is no doubt that the Synagogue Church of all Nation is among the most populous churches in Nigeria. The founder of the churchi s Prophet T. Balogun Joshua. This church is also engaged in charity activities.
8. DayStar Christian Centre (DCC)

Daystar Christian Centre was founded by the motivational speaker and pastor Samuel Adeyemi. He is into building great leaders for the country. The church has one of the biggest auditorium in Nigeria.

7. The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA)

This church was founded by Rev. Biodun Fatoyibo who is the president and founder of the church. It has one of the biggest auditorium in Nigeria. The church occupies the 7th position in the top list of the most populated churches in Nigeria. Its headquarters is located in Abuja.

6. Deeper Life Christian Ministry (DLC)

This is one church in Nigeria that has continued to grow and grow with inflow of new members daily. Deeper Life Christian Ministry was founded by pastor Williams Foluronsho kumuyi who is a great anointed man of God. He started the church with just 15 people in 1973.

5. The Apostolic Church 

This is one of the oldest churches in Nigeria that is highly populated with different branches across Nigeria. It occupies the 5th position in the list of top 10 most populated churches in Nigeria.

4. Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM)

MFM is it is popularly called is among the top most populated churches in Nigeria. The founder is Dr. Daniel Olukoya. It has of of the biggest auditorium in Nigeria, which can accommodate up to 550,000 people in a service.

3. Christ Embassy

There is no doubt this church is occupying the 3rd position in Nigeria as the third most populated church in Nigeria. It was founded by Dr. Chris Oyakhilome with thousands of branches distributed across Nigeria.

2. Living Faith church (LFC)

This is the second most populated church in Nigeria. It was name the biggest church in the world by Guinness before it was unseated from that position. The church was founded by Bishop David Oyedepo. LFC usually have annual convention that attract people from different part of the world to partake in the event called shiloh.

1. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)

This is the biggest and most populated church in Nigeria. Its members are millions in numbers. the church has the biggest auditorium in Nigeria. The former General Overseer (GO) was Pastor Enoch Adeboye which has snow been replaced with Pastor J.O. Obeyemi.
